18 years self-employed

18 years self-employed

I almost forgot it! I've been self-employed for 18 years now.

Every year I think about it, this year I didn't realize it in July. At the same time it is really a great number. Many years ago, I visited a company that had a small party in addition to the normal operation in the yard, with food truck (at that time that was still something special), music and much more. There I had also seen the first foosball table and the first PlayStation in the foyer of a business. The entrepreneur said, "Well, finally we are of age." That impressed me, especially since I was still in my first years of self-employment at the time. I wish all of you who are self-employed, relaunching as a startup, that every year is appreciated. Especially when there may be no superiors, co-workers or colleagues, it is even more important to remember yourself. I still don't have a PlayStation or foosball table, but I do have flexible working hours and a home office, walks with the dog, training courses that no one has to approve, appreciation and meaningful tasks. So I'm looking forward to the next years as a “grown-up” self-employed person. And of course I am very happy and grateful for my fantastic clients! Without these great people, my motivation would certainly not have carried me so well through good and difficult phases.
